The Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties
The Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board is pleased to announce the availability of a recently completed report
on the status of housing for individuals with severe mental health disabilities residing in Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties.
The report is titled “Housing Options for Mental Health Consumers in Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties, Ohio” and is available
in an electronic format by

are also available by contacting the ADAMHS Board.
The project was commissioned by the ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll
Counties in order to identify strengths and gaps in the array of housing and supportive housing services.
The ADAMHS Board was
also interested in developing specific strategies to improve housing outcomes for consumers in the district.
This project
was made possible with financial and technical support by the National Alliance on Mental Illness-Ohio Chapter and the Ohio Department
of Mental Health.
Mr. Roy Lowenstein, a housing consultant made available to the ADAMHS Board through the Ohio Mental Health
Housing Leadership Institute (NAMI-Ohio), authored the document. Critical elements of the report include the following:
- Results
of an extensive mental health consumer housing preference survey which was completed in collaboration with Community Mental Healthcare
in Dover and Southeast, Inc., both with offices in Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties.
- A detailed listing of housing potentially
available for mental health consumers residing in the Board’s catchment area.
- Potential funding sources for additional mental health
housing, and
- A series of recommendations to address the additional demand for housing and supportive housing services for individuals
with mental illnesses.
The ADAMHS Board is currently developing a management process to address the numerous topics and issues
outlined in the report.
On behalf of the ADAMHS Board, we would like to thank the individuals and organizations that participated
in this project. We look forward to working with our constituents on the specific recommendations outlined in the report in
order to improve and expand housing options for individuals living with severe mental illnesses within Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties.
